Warmer Weather Means More Pedestrian Accidents

In the past week, there have been a number of pedestrian accidents reported throughout New Jersey, including one involving an off-duty police officer. Although a new program had been put in place to help make crosswalks safer for pedestrians, pedestrian accidents have been on the rise. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 4,783 pedestrians were killed about 76,000 were injured in traffic accidents in 2012, a 6 percent increase from 2011. In New Jersey, there were 156 pedestrian fatalities in 2012.
