Whatever the reason is behind riding in a taxi, we are entrusting that driver to get us safely to our next destination. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 11,000 people employed as a taxi driver in New York metropolitan area. Although statistics have found that cab accidents are low, the possibility of injury is high. In 2006, a study had found that taxi and livery cabs had fewer accidents than other drivers in New York yet the accidents did result in major injuries for the passengers.

If you get into an accident in a taxi cab, follow these steps:
- If injured, seek medical assistance immediately.
- Get the name and identification number of the taxi driver. If he/she isn’t self-employed, make sure you get contact information for the taxi company.
- Get information for the other driver involved in the accident.
- Make sure you get statements from any witnesses involved.
- Take any photographs of the scene.
