An anniversary he wants to forget

November 13th marks a two-year anniversary that Anthony Carbone would soon like to forget. It was the worst day of his life.

He was sound asleep when the phone rang at 3 a.m. No good news happens at that time of the morning. On the other end, was a police officer. “Mr. Carbone, your children were involved in a car accident,” the officer told him. “There is a car in your driveway and it is going to take you to the hospital.”

Panic set in. All Tony could think about at that moment was his children and how badly injured they were. “Were they hurt?” he asked the officer.

“Yes,” he replied.

“How bad?”

“Bad.”

“Are they alive?”

“I don’t know,” the officer said.

That’s not a response any parent wants to hear. Tony and his wife quickly got dressed and raced to the hospital where they learned more details of the accident. Two of his daughters were passengers in a car being driven by a drunk driver. Thankfully the injuries, though serious, did not take anyone’s life that night. Both of his daughters are now healthy and attending college. But for one brief moment, the end of the world happened to Tony Carbone, all because a drunk driver decided to get behind the wheel and drive.

Tony knows the pain someone feels when they learn a dear family member has gotten into an accident because of a drunk driver. This is the reason he fights for your rights.
