As well all know, with warmer temperatures comes a flood of motorcycles on our roadways. And sometimes, motorcyclists may not commit the most legal of acts. For instance, have you ever notice when stuck in traffic, a motorcyclist will just drive on the side of the road to escape the mess? Or perhaps they whizz by you on the highway if you’re going too slow. It may irritate you, but be careful — motorcycles have every right to be on the road as you do!
So how can you protect you and your loved one from getting into an motorcycle accident? In an effort to keep our clients safe as they take to the roads this season, the Law Offices of Anthony Carbone would like to offer you some summertime driving tips that will keep you and your loved ones safe as well as accident free this summer:
- Keep your attention on the road. As we know, motorcycles are a bit smaller than your car so you may not see them immediately as you would another car. When you’re performing an operation, say changing lanes, make sure your attention is on the road and not on something else.
- Did you know that the majority of motorcycle accidents are caused when a automobile driver is making a left-hand turn? Motorcyclists may try to pass or overtake your car when you try to make a left-hand turn. Again, keep your wits about you and make sure the way is clear before turning.
- Make sure you keep a safe distance between you and the motorcyclist, in case the driver needs to stop abruptly.
- Be aware of the motorcyclist’s right of way. Remember, even they aren’t in a car, the driver still has to follow the same rules of the road as you do.
And remember, if you get into an auto accident with a motorcyclist, you may be entitled to compensation. Contact the Law Offices of Anthony Carbone today for a free consultation.
