The borough of Glen Rock, New Jersey, was settled around a large boulder in a small valley, which is how it got its name. It’s believed the boulder, which is located where Doremus Avenue meets Rock Road, was carried to the area by a glacier more than 15,000 years ago.
The boulder was used for signal fires and as a trail marker for the Lenape Native Americans who lived in the area. The town was featured in the film “World Trade Center,” where 11 resides had been killed during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
