The bus started its journey in Lakewood and was headed to Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken.
According to news reports, the accident occurred when a tractor-trailer attempted to change lanes and veered into another truck. The result was a chain-like effect, which resulted in another tractor-trailer striking the bus. The results of the final investigation of this accident have not been released.
At last report, this accident involved three tractor-trailers and the New Jersey Transit bus. It will be important to determine the culpability of each of the vehicles in the incident. Although the news articles do not seem to place blame on New Jersey Transit, it will be important for the injured passengers to put the bus company on notice.
